Windows 10: How do I get the display monitor icons for remote PCs that has disappeared under the...

I can access the remotely mounted folders and drives by typing something such as "\\COMPUTER A" in File Explorer. Before the most recent upgrade of Windows 11, an icon for each remote PC that looks like a computer monitor would appear below the "Network" section of File Explorers's left pane. How do I get those icons to re-appear?

Desktop icons disappeared with 2nd monitor, Windows 10

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

1. Did the desktop icons disappear from both the displays when the main display was switched?

2. Which built version of Windows are you currently using?

When you setup multiple monitors, you will get options to personalize the display according to your needs, these options are:-

1. Duplicate these displays- Shows the entire desktop on both displays. The second or other monitors mirror the primary monitor.
2. Extend these displays - Stretch the desktop across the two displays. The desktop screen of your PC is extended across all the detected monitors and allows you to have a desktop screen that spans across all monitors.
   

If the display settings are set to Extend these display, all the launched application will be displayed in the monitor which has ‘Make this my main display’ option enabled under the ‘Multiple displays’
settings. The desktop icons will only be displayed on the main display.

No display on monitor when TV set as primary display

Issue solved

Removed DVI/HDMI cable from computer and monitor

Step 1: Check if the VGA monitor cable is defective.

1. Turn off computer
   
2. Connect the monitor VGA cable from the monitor to the VGA port on the computer
   
3. Turn on computer, VGA monitor cable is good.
   
   Step 2: Tun off computer
   

1. Connect HDMI Cable to HDMI port and TV
   
2. Turn on computer and TV, there is no monitor black screen
   
3. Click on the Windows logo, select the Settings icon , and then select
   
   System. Under Display there are two squares, labeled 1 and 2
   
   D Click on Advanced Display Settings:
   
   Display information: Display 1- Monitor Display 2 -TV
   
   E Right-click the Speakers icon in
   the taskbar, select Sound, click on Playback devices,

   AMD High Definition Audio Device ready.

Icons move to the left on a 4K monitor

This issue might occur if there is display settings or icon settings.



To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

• What is the make and model of the computer?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to change auto arrange icon settings and also update display adapter driver in the Device Manager. Check if it helps.



Step 1: I recommend you to change auto arrange icon settings.

1. Right click on Desktop screen.

2. Then click on View.

3. Uncheck mark on Auto arrange icons.



Step 2: I suggest you to update the latest driver for display adapter in the Device Manager.

1. Press Windows Key + R Key.

2. Then type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and hit on
Enter Key.

3. Expand Display Adapter.

4. Right click on the driver and click on Update Driver Software.

5. Follow the instruction to update the driver.
