Windows 10: How do I get the 'Photos' widget to show my pictures?

I've been trying to figure this out for hours and I'm not even sure why I care, but can anyone explain as to how I make the photos widget actually show my pictures? It was working the other day when I looked at the widgets board, but now for some reason it just says "Relive your memories by uploading your photos from the OneDrive App." I've been fussing with my smartphone and with OneDrive on both my smartphone and my computer as well as Google Photos and Google Drive. Photos Widget Showing Pics NOT from Pictures folder

What are the Sources folders showing up in Photos app Settings? It should only have User Pictures folder by default, unless others were added.

Check for other Folders set in OneDrive Settings > Backup tab > Photos & Videos. But these should need to be set in Photos app or the widget before they display there.

Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

 

Photos Widget Showing Pics NOT from Pictures folder

Have selected (on OneDrive and Photos app) for pictures to only come from the Pictures folder.

Still seems to be accessing photos from other folders, which doesn't make for a great slideshow when it is displaying photos which were taken for reasons other than the enjoyment of looking at them (e.g. for work projects).

These photos are stored in folders under the Documents folder, NOT the Pictures folder; yet they are still showing up.

Even images from games (the sort that are downloaded along with the program files, audio files, etc. that the game accesses and that are NOT user-generated) are showing up.

How do I exclude images NOT from the Pictures folder from the widget's rotation?

This issue might occur if there is change in photo app settings.



To assist you better, please provided us the information below:

• When you say that "microsoft app", are you referring to photos app?
• Have you made any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to follow the steps below to check the source file for photos app and also copy the picture from external device.



Step 1: I recommend you check the source file settings in the photos app settings and check if it helps.

1. Click on Search bar.

2. Then type "Photos" without the quotes in the search bar and click on it.

3. Click on Settings on the bottom left corner of the Photos app.

4. Then check if under Sources, pictures directory is present or not.



Step 2: I suggest you to directly copy and paste the picture from the external device into the computer.
