How Do I Get This to Work?

I'm 68 and not new to casual computing. I had a perfectly funtioning Win 7 desktop PC I largely built and personalized for my uses. Something went amiss and I was forced to move onto a refurbished Win 10 PC I bought. I MUCH PREFER the Win 7 environment, everything about it. I have a 1TB HDD that I had partitioned as a backup. Apparently I have a full Windows 7 backup in the first partition and a full system backup in the second partition. I want to install this 1TB and boot from it, accessing those backed up data files in the second partition. It ain't happening. Am I reaching for

    :)

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
