Your ISP lease is showing only good for two hours, should be good for complete day... I would go in the adapter properties, change the DNS servers to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 That is found under the IPV4 properties.

In my post, Look at the picture of the ipv4 properties of the wifi adapter, the dns settings on the right may help you out.

Not really sure why you want him to change his DNS settings, it will have no effect on his DHCP lease which is being handled by his WIFI router which may or may not belong to the ISP but even so you can change the lease in the router settings and you use that where there is a potential for high IP turn over. I would focus more on the any WIFI error messages and resolving those issues first.

Firstly have you tried powering off your WIFI router and powering it back on after about a minute of being off? Try that first.

My second suggestion would be to update windows as well as the WIFI adapter drivers. Plug it into the wired network if you can and get her completely up to date.

Then move forward from there. Changing network settings to manual settings can cause more issues than it can fix.

I have turned the wifi router off and back on. I've turned the cable company modem off and on too. And yes, the system may work alright after that or not. I think everything is up to date as well. There are so many things it could be. And why does it work for awhile and then the wifi disconnects for no apparent reason. How do you fix it so that it never breaks again? I can look at a page for a minute then click the back arrow and get a message that the site can not be reached. I was just looking at the page 60 seconds ago. What happened?

Do you have a wireless phone base close to your computer or router? How far are you from the router, is it positioned up high and not tucked into a shelf/cabinet enclosure?

No wireless phone. I can try moving the router. In its present location to facilitate streaming videos to a TV in another room.

Are you able to update windows and update drivers? Need to start with the simple stuff first. My WIFI network has around 10000 access points and 17k users and most of the time it is something very simple so lets work the simple stuff before we reconfig your network or rearrange your furniture.

Can you provide the name and model of your wireless access point/router?

  12. To get WIFI connected automatically, follow up.
    1. press Windows + R to open the Run box and then enter regedit in the box and hit OK to get in.
    2. In Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WcmSvc\.
    3. Right click WcmSvcn to create a New Key and name it Group Policy.
    4. Choose the Group Policy, on the right pane, right click the blank place to add a New DWORD(32-bit) Value.
5.Rename the new key as fMinimizeConnections.
    6. Restart your PC.
You can see the WIFI are connected automatically.
