Windows 10: How do i get windows to register my headset.

When i plug in my headset it stays on the same option which is "Speakers/Headphones RealtekR Audio" but i want to use the mic in my headset and not the internal one I am on a laptop.

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

Headset not registering in-game


I'm using an xbox 360 controller / wireless receiver. No cords except for the xbox360 specific headset that plugs into the controller itself.

It registers on the computer in the sound device settings. I can hear it, the computer says OK you're good to go but in the game it doesn't register at all. I still have a mic with an X through it in Forza Horizon 3. Also fails to work in Black Ops 2 and Crossout.
