  1. How do I grant full access to "C:\" to a user, including all subfolders and files?

This is my own computer, only user. I desire to not be bothered by the system when i make modifications to system folders, i have no antivirus, no form of protection, i want full commando on this one.

I took ownership of C drive and everything in it, then added my username into the NTFS permissions list with full access including subfolders and files.

BUT, that does not add my user into folders that have inheritance turned off, such as Program Files, or Windows.

Even if I manually give permissions to Program Files, i still don't have unrestricted access to the subfolders, since they don't inherit the permission i just added.

I only want to add my username on top of whatever existing entities are already there, without touching inheritance or existing permissions (things go haywire after that for obvious reasons).

So, if there is a list of a, b, c, d, e entities in a certain folder, i want to keep those and add full access permissions to my user, like:

    a, b, c, d, e, user.

How can i give my user full access for literally every single folder and file that exists in any drive in my system?

This is either identical or similar to using the built-in Administrator account, since in that one I never get prompted for anything.

The problem with that is that even by changing the view name of administrator, things break, like Google Chrome/Edge not syncing and clearing cookies, so I prefer we keep the Administrator account a virgin.

Using the Administrator account used to be my original solution, but it breaks things.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Second user account access to files (documents, pictures) as on primary user account with WIndows 10

    Hi,

Groups or users that are granted Full Control permission for a folder can delete files and subfolders within that folder, regardless of the permissions that protect the files and subfolders. If the check boxes under Permissions for <User or Group> are shaded
or if the Remove button is unavailable, the file or folder has inherited permissions from the parent folder. When adding a new user or group, by default, this user or group will have Read & Execute, List Folder Contents, and Read permissions.

    Setting File and Folder Permissions

To set permissions for files and folders, follow these steps:

    • In Windows Explorer, right-click the file or folder you want to work with.

    • From the pop-up menu, select Properties, and then in the Properties dialog box click the Security tab, shown in Figure 13-12.

    • Users or groups that already have access to the file or folder are listed in the Name list box. You can change permissions for these users and groups by doing the following:

      • Select the user or group you want to change.

      • Use the Permissions list box to grant or deny access permissions.
Tip Inherited permissions are shaded. If you want to override an inherited permission, select the opposite permission.

    • To set access permissions for additional users, contacts, computers, or groups, click Add. This displays the Select Users, Computers, Or Groups dialog box shown in Figure 13-13.

Figure 13-12: Use the Security tab to configure basic permissions for the file or folder.

    • Use the Select Users, Computers, Or Groups dialog box to select the users, computers, or groups for which you want to set access permissions. You can use the fields of this dialog box as follows:

      • Look In This drop-down list box allows you to access account names from other domains. Click Look In to see a list of the current domain, trusted domains, and other resources that you can access. Select
Entire Directory to view all the account names in the folder.

      • Name This column shows the available accounts of the currently selected domain or resource.

      • Add This button adds selected names to the selection list.

      • Check Names This button validates the user, contact, and group names entered into the selection list. This is useful if you type names in manually and want to make sure they're available.

    • In the Name list box, select the user, computer, or group you want to configure, and then use the fields in the Permissions area to allow or deny permissions. Repeat for other users, computers, or groups.

    • Click OK when you're finished.

For any other concerns, don't hesitate to get back to us.

    Regards.

Windows Security. Allow user access only to subfolder and not root

I've tried to search about this there and here, but hadn't found a solution.

    SITUATION
I have a following folders structure:
    root
    ----|A
    ----|B
    --------|B1
    --------|B2
    ----|C
I need to give permission for user to access only folder B2 and deny access to any root folders. I want to lock user inside this folder.

    WORKAROUND
After reading this, I almost achieved it doing these two steps:
    1. I gave the only "Traverse Folder/Execute File" permission for desired user to root folder and forced this permission to all subfolders.
    2. I disabled inheritance for folder B2 and gave "Full control" permission for desired user.
In this way user can't access root folder's content, but can access B2 folder directly through direct link or shortcut.

    PROBLEM
The problem is that user can get one directory "up" from his folder and see root folder B with subfolder B1 along with B2. He can even go inside B1 directory and see all files inside. Although he can't access main root folder root - Windows shows "Access denied" error. Windows Security was always very messy but now I'm out of ideas.
