How do I increase the number of characters in Photos Description?Open a photo in MS Photo viewer and click the i and the Description can have text that can be as long as required and be saved in the normal file manager – example below:Waterloo Bridge Cocker flood from High Sand Lane Brewery Bridge 1918 this torrent brought trees that damaged the railings of the bridge but the bridge continued to take buses and lorries to the brewery area until the 1838 flood demolished half of the bridge and it was not replaced until a footbridge was built in 1964. Yes. Currently the caption box for my photos is limited to 100 characters. I want to increase this to about 250 characters.

We may have the wrong idea about what you mean by "caption box". Maybe you mean the file name, or maybe you are referring to the display in your photo viewer or photo editor.

If you really do mean the file name, I'd warn against making extra long file names. That's just going to lead to problems in the future when the files are moved further down into subfolders, copied to a different file system, etc.

It's better to put a long description in the photo's info area (aka "meta data"). For example, here I've added a description using Windows built-in photo viewer:

My photo text boxes in some folders are limiting me to 100 characters, but I need to increase this to about least 250. There must be a simple solution, but I can't find it and online 'helps' don't help.
