Like many of us, I have a lot of tasks open at the same time so I can compare documents, emails, programs, etc. In Personalization > Taskbar, if I chose the Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels "When taskbar is full", then I have to click on the Outlook button and then click on the Inbox button to even see Outlook, which is inefficient; would love to be able to just see Outlook program when I click on the button on the taskbar as was possible in Windows 10. Then have to scan through the emails and guess which is the right one, which is time consuming. If I chose the option, "Never"

Windows 11 taskbar icons not working

I appreciate your interest in Windows 11. I understand that Taskbar icons are not working after upgrading to Windows 11. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

1. What happens when you click on an icon on the Taskbar?
   
2. Do you receive any error message/code?
   
3. Does this issue occur with all the icons?
   

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to try re-registering the taskbar and see if that works. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Press Windows + X keys together and click on Windows PowerShell (Admin)
   
2. Now type in the following command and hit Enter: Get-AppXPackage -User ([System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity]::GetCurrent().Name) *ShellExperienceHost* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}
   
3. Restart the PC once the command is complete.
   

If the issue persists, you can try creating a new user account and then see if you are able to access the icons on the Taskbar.

I understand the inconvenience that you are unable to change the Taskbar settings, we will help you to resolve this issue.

Please follow the below steps:

• Logon to your computer as administrator, Right click on empty space on the
  Taskbar.
• Select Properties, Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window pops-up.
• Uncheck Use small taskbar buttons to increase the size of icons.
• Check/uncheck the Lock Taskbar option to Lock or unlock respectively.
