    Hitachi Touro 1TB USB 3 external hard drive

    I dont know if anyone else is having this problem. I have just upgraded to Windows 10 and Windows 10 was able to see the Hitachi Touro drive yet I could not see what was in it. The drive appeared in disk management yet did not show on drives in "this pc".
    I worked out that Windows 10 did not assign Hitachi external drive with a drive letter. So I went into disk management, right click on the external drive, in my case it was disk 1. Assign drive a drive letter, in my case "D". Then the drive could be read.

    Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) has started to ship its 1TB hard disk drives (HDDs) introduced earlier this year commercially. Hitachi’s Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721010KLA330 model features five 200GB platters and ten heads, has 7200rpm motor as well as 32MB data buffer. The manufacturer claims that the drive has 8.5ms read seek time, 9.2ms write seek time and 133.75MB/s maximum media transfer rate. Currently the company ships 1TB hard disk drive with Serial ATA-300 interface, but a model with Parallel ATA interface is also expected to be available. At present Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000 hard disk drives with 1TB capacity are available in Japan for ¥51 500 - ¥55980 ($433 - $470). The recommended price of the 1TB drive from Hitachi for the U.S. is $399.

    Unable to open Hitachi Touro 3.0 External hard drive after upgrading to Windows 10

    Hi,

    I had this problem as well with my Hitachi 3TB HDD after upgrading to Windows 10 while having the external drive plugged in.

    In the end, I installed some modified Intel extensible drivers then reformatted my large external drives. One was Western Digital 1TB USB 2.0 and Hitachi 3TB Touro Desk Pro USB 3.0.

    Windows 8/10 hates large HDDs. Next time, before you update your Windows OS, unplug your external drives.

    Moreover, the online Microsoft support team is completely clueless of this issue.
