Windows 10: How do I keep OneNote from adding itself to Indexing in Windows 11?

I noticed that the Windows 11 search bar and Start Menu become unresponsive when I have OneNote indexing turned on. It takes the computer about 7-10 minutes after I boot to allow me to type in the search or in the Start Menu. Ultimately, with OneNote indexing turned on, my computer also takes about 7-10 minutes to shut down. If I remove OneNote from indexing, the Windows 11 search and Start Menu become responsive immediately after boot. Since you have already added it in Indexing options, we suggest you to run Indexing troubleshooter to check for possible caused of the issue. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows key.
• Type Troubleshooting.
• On the left pane, click View all.
• Click Search and Indexing.
• Follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 1:

I suggest you to remove the D drive from the indexing and run the indexing troubleshooter.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter:

  Press “Windows key + X” to click on “Control Panel”.

• 
  Click on “Search and Indexing” to run the troubleshooter.
  
  Once this is done, restart the computer and check if this helps.

Re –build the indexing by adding the D drive and verify the result.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps

• Press Windows key + R.
• Type Services.msc In the search box.
• Select Windows Search
• Restart the services and set the service as Automatic

If the issue persist try performing Rebuilding Index again.

To rebuild the index follow the steps below:

• Open the Control Panel from the Start menu.
• Open Indexing Options in the Control Panel.
  
• Select the Advanced button in the Indexing Options window.
• Select Rebuild in the Troubleshooting section of the Advanced Options window.
• Select OK when it asks if you’re sure you want to re-build the search index.
