  1. How do I keep "US Keyboard" as my DEFAULT keyboard entry preference in Windows 10?

I had both "US Keyboard" and "United States International Keyboard" keyboards associated with the "English (United States)" language.

I keep getting the input keyboard reset to the International version (when I wanted the "US Keyboard" to be the default)

A similar post about default keyboards was closed after the user found the hack solution of permanently Removing the keyboard type he didn't want.

BUT I want both! Defaulting to US, and still able to switch occasionally to International.

I known you can set a default language. (it would be nice to set a default keyboard as well)

I tried a different hack solution: Have 2 languages "English (United States)" and "English (United Kingdom)"

The US one with with "US Keyboard", the United Kingdom one with the International Keyboard.

However the bar now just shows ENG ... so I can't see at a glance which of the two I am using.

Before (when switching keyboards not languages) the bar would show "ENG" for "US Keyboard" and ENG INT for the other.

Plus spelling-wise I want to stay with US English so switching languages to switch keyboards has a downside.

    :)

  2. Language/Keyboard default

    Hi Sandra,

You can try these steps to set up your preferred defaults:

    • Go to Settings and click Time & Language.
    • Click Region & Language.
    • Click on your default system language then, click Options.
    • Click Add a keyboard then choose your preferred keyboard language.
    • Remove the other keyboard language by choosing it then click Remove.

    Tell us if this works.

  3. Help Choosing Gaming Keyboard

Hi guys, just found this forum and looks awesome.

I just bought a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (this one) and I am about 70% satisfied. I am returning it because they sent me the wrong model number, but I think the model number up from this won't be much different.

What I need in a gaming keyboard:
    • WHITE Backlit Keys (multicolor is a plus but has to allow white since I basically only use white)
    • Anti-ghosting (preferably 10 keys simultaneous)
    • Silent Keypress
    • $40 to $80 (used is fine)
    • Easy-to press keys
    • External color a simple black
    • OPTIONAL: Low-profile keys (slim, ultraslim)
What do you suggest? I have been searching for many hours and have a few ideas, but there are mixed reviews.

How do I keep "US Keyboard" as my DEFAULT keyboard entry preference in Windows 10?

How do I keep "English-International" as my DEFAULT keyboard entry preference in Windows 10?

I want "English-International" to be my default keyboard entry preference. I have upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10. Every time my computer goes into sleep mode, it reverts back to "English-United States." This did not happen in Windows 8. With
Windows 8 it only reverted when the computer was rebooted. I have tried to follow instructions regarding switching default language preferences in "settings," but there is no language choice called "English International," so I feel that is not the same thing
as keyboard input preference. The English-International keyboard is perfect for me because I frequently write in English and Spanish, and it is very easy to make the Spanish punctuation marks. Right now, I do have an icon for my input method in the lower
right hand corner of the task bar. I am able to toggle between English-International, English-United States, and Spanish-Mexico. So with some effort I can get back to English-International. I am not asking how to put it in my task bar. It is already there.
I am asking specifically how to make it my default setting. I am not sure if this is posted in the correct Windows Topic. I don't know if this is a "desktop, start, and personalization" problem, or an "accessibility and ease of access" problem. Feel free
to move me to the proper forum. I would also like to make a suggestion: During the time I was typing this I repeatedly got the same pop-up interrupting me to tell me that there might already be an answer to my question. It was a different question regarding
the "English-International" keyboard, and did not answer my question. I would like to suggest that the same pop-up please not keep popping up and interrupting while a person is trying to post. It is very frustrating. Thank you for any help on my question.
