How do i know if my GPU is dead

Hi, 2 weeks ago i was loading a game when suddenly the game froze and i got a blue screen. i restarted my pc and played the game again, but it froze and crashed again. Then my gpu just went off and i couldn't start my pc. because when i booted my pc up it just froze. i had to reinstall windows but that didn't work. And when i look at device manager my gpu has a warning sign on it. and it says: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. Code 43. I tried everything like: resetting bios, take gpu out and plug it back in, i tried things in command prompt etc. and when i install NVIDIA drivers im getting white and red stripes all over my display. What is going on with my GPU? can someone help?. i have a nvidia geforce 760 and windows 10 pro.

    :)

Big Update = Disaster ( update, enable and using dead dedicated GPU )

    Hi Derek,

There are many possible reasons that might've caused this issue. The most probable cause here is your dead GPU. We'd like to know more about your issue. Kindly answer these following questions:

    • What made you think that your GPU is dead?
    • Have you considered taking your Laptop to a technician for the removal of it's GPU?

We'll be looking forward for your reply.

    Regards.

Thank you for your quick reply

I was playing Game normally before anniversary update. After update, I experienced some lag, pixelated graphic, game freeze, and force close. I even can't playing movie or music video smoothly. Disable Nvidia GPU via Device Manager. Everything back to normal.
Using intel hd4000, I can play movie smoothly and some game with low setting without any problem.

Another big update on May 2017. after waiting for 2 hour. it start with black screen and never ending circle loading. I can move my mouse pointer. but nothing else show up. I'm leaving it alone for another 3 hour. Nothing Change. Then I connected my Laptop
via HDMI to external monitor. The monitor show black screen and mouse pointer, nothing else. My Laptop display show normal working windows and I can go to device manager to disable the Nvidia GPU. It working fine for now.

I'm also try to download and install previous Nvidia driver and the oldest one available. Still same problem. The only way that working is to disable Nvdia GPU via Device Manager. But when another big update come and Windows 10 push to install new driver
on Nvidia GPU, I'm afraid I will experience same problem. It will update, enable and using Nvidia GPU.

    The funny thing is I regularly update my GPU driver whenever the latest version available through official Nvidia website. I manually download and install the driver. No problem arise. And when Anniversary update it. It's dead now :{

And Yes I will lookout the best technician out there to remove my Nvidia GPU Chip.

Big Update = Disaster ( update, enable and using dead dedicated GPU )

    Dear

    Windows 10 Developer Team

How to stop my Windows 10 Home Edition from updating, enabled and using my Dead Dedicated Nvidia GPU?

It's started with anniversary edition update on December 2016. After update, my usual game (that working just fine before update) getting error and not playable anymore. System getting slow and took more boot time to start. First,
I thought it was harddisk error because it show blue screen How do i know if my GPU is dead :( your pc run into problem and need restart and doing automatic repair. Problem not solved. Doing some search here, there and found out my dedicated nvdia GPU is dead (because anniversary update).
Try uninstall and install previous driver. nothing change. Disable it via device manager. Problem solved. System and boot time getting back normal (except for gaming). No problem from there until yesterday.

Yesterday (May 11th 2017) another big update come. guess what. It update, enabled and using my dead GPU. Screen goes black and only show mouse pointer. I was furious and cursing this update. LOL. and next day I found solution. I connect my laptop to external
monitor. External monitor show black screen and mouse pointer. Laptop Display show normal working Windows. Again. Disable the Dead GPU via device manager.

The problem is when windows come with another big update. It will doing the same thing. Update and revive the Dead dedicated GPU. Windows defender Security Center give warning and tell me to enable Nvidia GPU ( Please Stop. It's Already Dead ).

What I Have done so far:

    1. Disable nvidia GPU via device manager. Uninstall and check "delete the driver software for this device". (I believe it's temporary)

    2. Control Panel/ System and security/ System "Advanced System Setting" "Hardware" "Device Installation Setting" check "No". (I don't know it will be working or not)

    3. Download "Show or Hide Update" troubleshooter Package. ( Not showing GPU Driver )

What will I do if it happened again and desperate enough

    1. registry editor and add ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate in Windows update folder. (I don't know what it is)

    2. Limit my internet connection for windows update. (Definitely not safe, because I only need to block GPU Update not all update)

    3. Physically remove GPU chip from Laptop. (Although I don't know how yet)

So, How to stop my Windows 10 Home Edition from updating, enabled and using my Dead Dedicated Nvidia GPU?
