How do I link data locations to my profile after a profile corruption?

    Hi

My machine was working flawlessly 12 hours ago. Started this morning and got a temporary user profile. I searched the archives and got instructions to remove two .bak files in the registry to be able to reaccess the profiles without errors.

Now I have two active profiles: User1 is system admin, User2 is standard user, both were corrupted. Both can now be accessed.

My machine has an SSD for systems stuff and a hard drive where I keep all my data. My data is stored in a folder named User2. I want to be able to access the documents folder, pictures, music etc as before. I can get to them now but have to navigate there.

I think what has happened is that I have a new profile also called User2 which is on the SSD which does not point to the existing data folders on the Hard Drive.

How can I link the two together?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    :)

How do I link data locations to my profile after a profile corruption?

    Hi

Solved my own question. I was confused a bit by the Win 10 Ctrl panel [Settings > System > Storage] which only allows the Drive to be selected. This I did changing all options except Programs to point to Drive D.
Then I went to File explorer and selected the quick links to Document; Pictures; Videos etc and brought up the properties panel. Selecting the location tab showed that it still pointed to the users directory on the C: drive. I edited this entry for documents to show D:\User2\Documents where my original data was. I repeated this for all the other folders. Everything is now linked.
