recently reinstalled windows 11 to my Dell G5 15 laptop. It now uses almost 100% of my HDD, I already used chkdsk to try and resolve this issue. It also seems to have reassigned my D drive as my OS drive, and my C drive as my data drive. But for some reason still thinks the OS is on the C drive? When I try to reformate the C drive it tells me the OS is there.

    :)

How to change SYSTEM drive letter to C from another letter

I am working on a step by step process to fix the computer for windows 11 upgrade. (Currently have Windows 10) This was a built PC, but when my friend installed the OS for me somehow the windows install drive became the F drive. Here is a view of disk management I want to do the following (believe I need to do in this order).
    1. Move windows install drive letter from F to C
    2. Fix it so bootloader is MBR / on the SSD
Afraid of just changing the letter in disk management as the system will look for system files in the f-drive. I do have AOMEI partition assistant installed if that is useful for this task. I really appreciate any help in how to do it.

    Change OS Drive Letter

In modern times now it's almost impossible to change the Windows OS drive letter to anything other than C: drive, and the complications arising to do so would be many. I would suggest using folder junctions instead. Let's say your CAD program uses C:\CAD_Data.

    1. Move C:\CAD_Data to D:\CAD_Data. C:\CAD_Data should no longer exist.
    2. Open a Command Prompt (Admin), in the Command Prompt (Admin) window run:
    mklink /J C:\CAD_Data D:\CAD_Data
    Exit
    3. C:\CAD_Data will reappear on C: drive but the actual storage location for the data appearing there will be D:\CAD_Data

If your one drive is auto syncing, set it to auto sync with the D:\CAD_Data folder.
