Windows 10: How do I log into my Microsoft account? All Microsoft Passwords do not work.

I have a new, well reconditioned but new to me, laptop which I set up easily enough logging into my windows account using my phone through the authenticator app. I have a Dell Precision 7730 with 64.0 gb of ram, running Windows 11 Pro 23H2 OS build 226352921After a while about a week I noticed that it still had the old copy of windows. This is where all my problems started. For some reason despite being an administrator I couldn't delete the folder so I logged into the local account as an admin and that still didn't work. I'd logged out of my Microsoft account to set up the Local account but

I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store

Yesterday I did exactly as recommended in the link,

• Option Three: To Reset Password of your Microsoft Account Online at Microsoft

This gave me access to the Microsoft account currently displaying on the windows 10 login screen (as tested by logging into outlook in a web browser). The problem is that it doesn't seem to be syncing to the computer in question as I have tried the newly reset password several times over the last 24 h with no luck. I am confident the computer is connected to a working internet connection.

Anything else I can try?
