    How do I make it so that I don't have a set default epub file opener anymore


    Right now it's adobe editions and that's a problem. I can't open epubs in my other programs, and it doesn't allow for bookmarking with digital editions. Or send to kindle. So how do I clear default entirely and have it go back to asking which program to use for each file individually?

    open epub files

    Hi Hema

    Open the Settings App (gear icon on your Start Menu)

    Go to Apps - Default Apps

    At the bottom of that page, click 'Set Defaults by File Type'

    In the resulting list, scroll down to find the .Epub file type, then set that to the Edge Browser . . .

    Please Note: in a recent Windows 10 update Microsoft removed support for Epub files in the Edge Browser, so it may be best to download a free Epub reader form the Microsoft Store

    Opening EPUB file with Edge

    Hi,

    You can read .ePub files in Microsoft Edge so long as they are not protected. The latest Windows 10 build brings EPUB file format support to Edge, allowing users to read their favorite EPUB books directly in the browser. To resolve your concern,
    we suggest that you associate the file type to Edge as well. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    • Type Control Panel in the Search bar and press Enter.
    • Type Default Programs in the Control Panel Search bar.

    • Click the Default Programs and select Associate a file type or protocol with a program option.

    • Double-click the .ePub file type.
    • Once the pop-up window shows the option, click on More apps drop down then select Edge.

    How is this helpful?

    It is not a problem for an app from Store.

    Edge comes pre installed. I am having the same problem.

    .epub files are automatically associated to be opened with a different software. I want to change it to Edge and I am not able to because Edge is not in the list. I tried changing the defaults for .epub and Edge is not an option.
