  1. How do I make the Camera app stop requiring micorphone access?

I'm running Windows 11 64-bit and recently, as in the past few days, it started blocking my use of the Windows Camera app unless I allow Microphone access. My camera is built in to my laptop. I will not allow the app to have access to my Microphone, period, I don't want it or need it. Is there a way work around this via registry or similar? Or can anyone recommend a third-party app that accesses the built in camera?Thank you in advance for any advice!

    :)

Skype for Business' access to camera

Scroll down. Those are only Store apps listed. Other apps are listed below. First you turn access on, and then you have the list off other apps

    Here is mine

Edit: and maybe some other program is using your camera at the time... only one can use it (at the time)

Skype for Business' access to camera

    Thanks, it worked!

For anyone else having the same problem:
When activating the aforementioned setting you should restart Skype for Business completely. Mine Skype for Business still did not get listed in the lower list, but the camera is now activated.

    camera not working

If you have the camera connected to the computer, I would suggest that you disconnect the camera and then try to open the Camera app.

If the camera app opens, follow the steps below:

    • Press “Windows key + C” from your keyboard to open “Charms bar”.
    • Select “Settings” option.
    • Select “Permissions” option.
    • Turn on “Allow this app to access your: Webcam and Microphone” option.
    • Lose the app by pressing “Alt key + F4” from your keyboard.
    • Reopen the Camera app.
    • Connect your camera and then check how this app works.
    Goodluck!
