This has been answered a number of times on the community forum. In essence you can only order files in Explorer with MS's own system, i.e. by date/time, size, tags, etc. You can't drag and drop files into your own order. There is however a work around for this. It is a bit fiddly but works. Say you take 100 photos on two separate tours of a museum two days apart but want to order them as per the tour rather than the date. You have 50 files in a batch from the first tour and 50 in a batch from the second. First order by date. Then in Details View highlight all the files.Right click the first

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Some files listed in Windows Explorer are blue font

I seem to have run out of room on a Windows XP Pro system. I tried to defrag but don't have but 7% room available. I looked in Windows Explorer to try to find some huge files that might be corrupt and I see a few that are listed in blue. What does that mean? I have not compressed anything on purpose. Thanks

Windows Explorer crashing due to large files

You need to manually kill explorer before deleting the file/folder, as it will most probably be the only application that is using it, other than that, well, it depends alot on what you have running on your system, just kill anything that is not required by Windows to run, and if that fails you can use ProcessExplorer to locate exactly which process is using te file (I can give you instruction on this later if you need).

Anyway, sorry about the late reply, I was gamin' *Smile how do I manually reorder files in file explorer windows 10 or 11 :)
