  1. How do i migrate a NTFS to ReFS?

Basically i have 2 drives. one empty. and one full of important stuff, both are 1TB.i want to have a redundant drive. so i want to combine them into a pool like if it were RAID 1.my understanding is that ReFS could do it. any idea where to begin with?i could also use WSL2 and lsyncd but it is slower. much slower.

    :)

  2. windows server 2016 and 2019 Storage Spaces Tier with refs and ntfs

When i use Windows Server 2016, ntfs write data will be written directly to the ssd layer, but in Windows Server 2019 and 2022, ntfs will write data directly to the hdd layer, resulting in very poor parity performance, how should I set up ntfs data to write directly to the ssd layer? And in refs volumes, how do I pin files into the ssd layer, set-FileStorageTier is not available under the refs file system.

  3. File name changes when moving files from an NTFS formatted drive to a ReFS formatted drive (ReFS version 3.4)

Sometimes when I move a file from an NTFS formatted drive to a ReFS formatted drive the file name changes a bit. The name on the target drive (ReFS formatted) takes the original name of the file (before I renamed the original file on the NTFS drive) . is
this an index problem or is this an incompatibiliy between NTFS and ReFS when moving files ?

    For example :

drive c (NFTS formatted : file name 'Ab.TXT' renamed to "11.TXT" later.

    drive d (ReFS formatted )

move "11.TXT" from drive C to drive d

new file name on drive d: "Ab.TXT" (back the original name (before renaming it).

  4. How do i migrate a NTFS to ReFS?

Should i use ReFS instead of NTFS?

There are pros and cons to both systems. In short, ReFS is designed to be a more robust filesystem for large data storage.

For an in-depth discussion of the differences, I suggest you read the following TechNet Article

I am making the assumption from your question that this 4TB drive is in addition to an existing drive that contains your OS. It is not recommended to install Windows on a ReFS drive:
