Windows 10: how do I move a .m4a file out of "other media" to "Music" in Windows Media Player? I only...

Using Windows Media Player Legacy to sort and view music files on my PC. 2 "m4a" files just won't get out of other media, but they do play when selected from the hard drive, or from their location in "other media".Can you suggest a fix? on my husband's PC, the same 2 files kick up a "corrupted" indication. We use a single onedrive account to keep our files in sync.

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

I would suggest you to check the ‘Windows Media Player’ settings from the steps below.

1. Open the ‘Windows Media Player’, in the player ‘Library’, click on ‘Organize’.
   
2. Select ‘Options’, this will open the ‘Options’ window for the ‘Windows Media Player’.
   
3. Click on the ‘Library’ tab, please confirm if the ‘Retrieve additional information from the Internet’ is checked, check the options ‘Rename music files using rip music settings’ and ‘Rearrange music in rip
   music folder, using rip music settings’ under ‘Automatic media information updates for files’. Click on ‘Apply’.
   
4. Click on the ‘Player’ tab and check the option ‘Connect to the Internet’. Click on apply.
   
5. Restart the ‘Windows Media Player’ and check if it works out for you.

Duplicate files in Windows Media Player

Hi,

Why have I got both wma and m4a copies of my music files in windows media player?

I have copied my wma music files to an apple device but didn't as that m4a copies be stored on windows media player.

Any ideas on how to delete the m4a files safely and to stop them re-appearing?
