Windows 10: How do I open/turn on my USB B525 HD Webcam on laptop with windows 11? It lets me open it...

I have my usb webcam hooked up. It does not show up in my control panel and I have disabled the integrated camera as it is not working well. I can find the usb camera in device settings, it turns on and opens as preview, but I can't find it anywhere to use the camera? The red light lights up while the preview window is open, but when I click to locate devices, it turns the red light off, and can't find it? Any help would sure be appreciated.

USB problem

I have difficulty booting up computer at usb ports detecting and I think of my webcam cause it.
The computer boot screen is having a big delay it freeze for 30 or 60 seconds at the usb scanning step. Sometimes in Windows it says Unknown hardware at windows opening. Could it be my usb ports that begin to sucks or my webcam is having trouble ? (No other usb devices plugged other than wireless usb key for keyboard-mouse combo)

This issue could occurred due to these reasons.

• Damaged webcam diver\software.
• Due to incorrect webcam settings.
• If webcam is damaged.

Please follow the methods mentioned below.

Method 1:

I would suggest you to run the Hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:

a. Type Troubleshooting in the search bar
and select Troubleshooting.

b. Select View all on the top left corner.

c. Click on Hardware and device troubleshooter.

d. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter

Also I suggest you to check if you are able to use the Webcam with the Camera app.

Method 2:

If you are able to access Camera app, follow the steps mentioned below:

• Open Camera app.
• Press Windows key + C from your keyboard to open
  Charms bar.
• Select Settings option.
• Select Permissions option.
• Turn on Allow this app to access your: Webcam and Microphone option.
• Close the app.
• Reopen the Camera app.
• Connect your camera and then check how this app works.

Problems with laptop webcam due to usb hub.

Laptop in question is Asus K513E OLED 11gen i5, win 10.

Device Manager showing webcam as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)".

I uninstalled the webcam drivers and reinstall them from the official Asus support page for this laptop - didn't work.

Then I did the same for the chipset driver (I assumed the main USB controller might be on the same die) - same result.

I then "updated" the driver for the USB hub device (USB 3.0): "Update Drivers" -> "Search My Computer for Drivers" -> "Let me manually select from a list..." -> I chose one option which was available and installed it.

After that, for a short time (2-4 minutes), the “Unknown USB device” turned into a “usb2.0 HD UVC webcam”, was detected by zoom, and there was video feed coming from it.

Then, after couple of minutes, everything reverted back to where I started.

Google doesn't show anything related to this issue and this laptop.

Colleague, owner of this laptop, says that neither she nor anyone else has opened this laptop and the camera seems to work fine when properly detected so I don't think it's a cable issue (but I have a screwdriver so opening is possible ).

So, is there anyone who has encountered a similar problem and solved it successfully?
