  1. How do I permanently disable "Expand to Current Folder"?

Turning off "Expand to Current Folder" works for about five minutes, then File Explorer goes right back to expanding the folders. It is an incredibly annoying and useless feature that makes navigating files very difficult. Do not tell me how to turn off "Expand to Current Folder," I know how to do that, but that functionality only works briefly and then the annoying feature comes back.

    :)

  2. Stop explorer from auto-expanding folder tree upon mouse hover and "expand to current folder" is NOT checked.

    Hi Peter,

We would like to know if what do you mean by "expand to current folder is NOT checked." We also suggest that you provide us a screenshot of your concern. However, can you tell us as well what's going on with "auto-expanding folder tree upon mouse hover."

We're looking forward to your response.

  3. How to stop auto expanding in Libraries

    Hi Martin,

One of the possible reason why the folders in your libraries are automatically expanding is due to the settings within the File Explorer. To disable the automatically expanding of the folders on your library, follow these steps:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Click on View tab.
    • Select the Navigation Pane.
    • Click on Expand to open folder.

How do I permanently disable "Expand to Current Folder"?

    Expanding folders in file explorer

    Hi,

In answer to your query, yes, there's an option to change the Folder View Options of your File Explorer. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Open File Explorer.
    • Click File tab.
    • Select Change folder and search options.
    • Click View tab.
    • Under Advanced settings, scroll down to Navigation pane.
    • Check Expand to open folder, Show all folders, and
      Show libraries.

You can also check all the options, and set it up the way you wanted.

We'll be here if you need more help.
