How do I prevent new instances from opening?

Hello, here is the issue:Suddenly, Windows opens a new instance of any browser when a link is clicked or when the browser icon on the taskbar is clicked. This has no relation to the internal browser settings which are set at "open link in new tab". This happens with all browsers and applications including Firefox, Pale Moon, and Edge. I expect to be able to switch back and forth between applications when choosing them on the taskbar, not to open another instance. Again, this also makes a new window open when clicking a link instead of opening the link in a new tab, regardless of the internal

  2. can't open new instances of an application from taskbar

I have any program open. I right click the shortcut for it in the taskbar and a list of option comes out. But then when i try to open another instance of the program from that list by clicking on the option with the icon and program name, nothing happens.
How do I make it so that it opens another instance instead of doing nothing?

  3. Preventing subforms opening in New Windows

    Hi,

I have a database set up with a navigation form.

Some of the forms that opens within the sub-form area have buttons or links that open other forms.

For example, the first form is a list of "Improvement Suggestions". The list shows the title and date of each suggestion, and when you click on one of the titles it opens another form that shows the full details of the particular Suggestion.

This all works well except the second form (the one displaying all the details) opened in a new window. I would like it to open within the navigation sub-form area. I'm using the Macro actions to open the other form based on what was clicked.

I also have other forms with control buttons that run similar macro actions when clicked. All of them open new windows.

Is there anyway to open with the navigation form?

    Cheers

    Leon

How do I prevent new instances from opening?

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
