How Do I Properly Prevent Windows Installer Custom Actions from Windows Defender Detection?

Hi all,I have a Windows Installer .msi generated by InstallShield and recently some customers have reported some items Custom Actions being flagged by Windows Defender.SomeCustomAction.exeAnotherCustomAction.dllMSICEA7.tmpMSI9ACD.tmpMSIDC01.tmpWould signing these utilities help to prevent being detected as potentially problematic? The MSI*.tmp are also extracted actions and I guess I have to use some Windows Installer logging to hunt those down. My hope is that if digitally signing the install utilities might help, I may not have to worry about hunting those down by signing all utilities.Any

    :)

    Windows 7 x64 not detecting GTX295

    Background
I installed the 295 and it was not detected. So I downloaded 181.22 for Vista x64, but those drivers didn't work for gaming (CTD). So I installed a GTX 8800 and it was detected and drivers installed automatically from Windows Update.

Now I put the 295 back in, and it installed and was able to run games. However, the nVidia control panel was not available, suggesting that the drivers hadn't installed properly... So I deleted the drivers and rebooted. And... again it lists my 295 as a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" and a "3D Video Controler", but no drivers can be found by Windows Update.

    Question
    1) Is there anywhere I can download the Windows 7 x64 drivers and install them manually?

    2) Any idea how I can get Windows 7 to recognize my GTX295 so that it can download the proper drivers.

    3) Have you had the GTX295 install automatically in Windows 7 x64?

"Attestation" A new feature coming to Windows Defender in Windows 10

Tech Republic - Upcoming Windows Defender feature will tell you when security fails
This seems very promising. Microsoft is in the unique position to know what Windows should look like, even before Windows Update pushes out new changes. As long as MS can properly sync WD with WU changes AND this new features does not make any "noticeable" hit on system performance/resources, all without any false positives, this should be a big step forward for consumer security, and a blow to the bad guys - always a good thing.

Of course, there will likely be some hiccups the Windows/Microsoft/Windows Defender bashers will surely pounce on - regardless how extensive the Beta process is. But hopefully open and unbiased minds will prevail. After all, the goal is to stop the bad guys and if this gets us closer to that, that's a very good thing.
