HOW DO I PROTECT MY DESKTOP INFORMATION DURING COMPUTER REPAIRS?

    Hello,

I need to take my tower into a computer repair shop. I have all of my Google saved passwords on here, along with lots of bookmarks. Can anyone please tell me the best way to protect my information. I just don't want the repair people to have access to any of it. I'm taking my tower in for a "tune up" - she's running loud and I she overheated and blue screened me today for the first time in 3 years since I had her. I'm a middle age lady who is pretty good at trouble shooting most of my issues, but still so much I don't know. Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you so much!

    :)

  2. sfc /scannow "Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service"

    Hi,

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service is an error which may occur if you are trying to run the System File Checker tool (SFC /SCANNOW) to scan and repair Windows system files. To resolve this error, we suggest that you follow the
    steps below:

    • Press the Windows + R keys to open run command box.
    • In the run command box, type services.msc, and press
      Enter.
    • In the list of services, double click the Windows Modules Installer service.
    • Set the startup type to Auto, and click OK.
    • Restart your computer.
    • After the restart, you'll be able to run the sfc /scannow command without any problems.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.

Windows resource protection could not start the repair service

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate the efforts taken by you in resolving the issue. I understand that you receive an error, ‘Windows resource protection could not start the repair service’ when running SFC scan. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.

    However, please let us know:

I would suggest you to try booting the computer in to Safe Mode and then try running SFC scan on the computer. You can also refer the steps mentioned in the article on
Using System File Checker in Windows 10.

If the issue persists after running the DISM, we can perform an in-place upgrade.
An in place upgrade will repair the corrupted system files and will upgrade the computer to the latest version of Windows as well.

To perform an in place upgrade on the computer, refer the steps mentioned in the article
