Windows 10: How do I pull the windows 10 license key off of a non-working harddrive before formatting...

I'm fixing a broken computer, which uses a harddrive which is corrupted. I bought some data recovery software online and I've recovered the data off the computer and stored it on a working computer including the windows folders / system foldersI need to format the hard drive so it will be recognizable again, but I want to make sure I have a way of porting the old windows 10 license back on the machine after I format the corrupted hard drive. How might I do this?I have access to the recovered files. Maybe the license key is in one of those files?I heard there is a way to download and use wind

Formating Harddrive

What you have to do:

1. Make sure your CD-ROM is set to first boot device, before the hard drive.
2. Put in the recovery CD and start your comp up.
3. When it says "Press any key to boot from disk" press a key.
4. Follow the instructions. Im going to format a comp sometime within the next 2 hours, so i'll post step by step if you need it.

Im pretty sure the recovery CD's work the same as the Windows CD. It all depends on the actual CD, but generally they do.

You are right. Seagate Drive Settings is not listed in the supported software for Windows 10.
I have been using it with Windows 7 and 10 so I did not realize there was supposed to be a problem.

Seagate Dashboard should be used instead.





Select to Manage drive





Dashboard can be used for:

• Turn LED on/off
• Test drive
• Select Power saving mode
