Windows 10: How do I re-activate Windows 10?

After the update Wednesday, I now have a message in the lower right hand corner that says Activate Windows, go to settings to activate windows. When I go to settings all I get is a blue screen that looks like the original settings display but there is nothing else on it and I can not activate my windows 10 that I have had for several years. How do I fix? Also there is no button on the taskbar for me to access downloads, documents etc...

I won't buy a key, stupid.

I'll revert back to windows 7 then.

When I still was on windows 7, about a year ago I added 4GB extra ram which is a total of 8GB now,
is that causing the problem?

If you upgraded to Windows 10 for free and ended up in a non-activated state, try following these steps:
