Windows 10: How do I re-enable the admin account Windows 10

This was after I disabled the admin account after I used it for quite some time on my mother's laptop 3-ish years, didn't do any changes nor did I edit anything major. Now I can't run any apps requiring admin privileges. I tried to run both powershell and command prompt as admin, but neither worked. I instead ran them normally and tried the command: "netuser administrator /active:yes" but to no avail, returning a "system error 5" along with it. How do I fix this?

Kindly follow the steps below to see if you can configure the built admin account.

1. Press the Windows key + r, type netplwiz then press enter.

2. In the user account windows do you see the administrator account on the list?

If yes highlight the admin account then click the reset password. If you don't see the administrator account. You can enable it using the steps below.

1. Click the start menu, then type CMD. Right-click the command prompt then select run as administrator.

2. Type or copy-paste the command below

net user administrator /active:yes

3. Once you enable it successfully, open netplwiz again. The admin account should now be in the list.

4. You can then configure the account and change the password.

I suggest you to try the following methods and check:

What is the version of Windows that is installed on the Computer?

May I know how did you reset the PC?

If you need to create an administrator account, you need to log into an administrator account, if there are not administrator account on the computer, you will not be able to create an admin account.

You will have to reinstall Windows, refer this article

Win 10 - no admin account

Hi,

If you are unable to create a new user account, try to enable the in-built administrator account and check.



To do so, follow the steps.

• 
  Press Windows + X. Click on command prompt (admin)
  
• 
  Type the following command and hit enter
  
  net user administrator /active:yes
  
• 
  Log out and sign in to the default admin account and try to add a new admin user.
