Windows 10: How do i reconnect my local laptop server to SSMS?

Anyone else having problems with SSMS crashing when saving files to a Google Drive File Stream (mapped to a local drive)?

As per my research, rebuilding the Shell folder should resolve this issue. You may want to try the steps listed below and see if it works for you:

• Navigate to the following location:
  
  C:\Documents and Settings\<user profile>\Application Data\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Tools\
  
• Delete the Shell folder, restart SSMS and see if it works for you.
  

Note: The Shell
folder will be rebuilt once you restart SSMS. Your connected server history will be lost, but the files will be retained.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to post your query in the
MSDN Forums,
as managing any SQL infrastructure is handled there.

SSMS 2005: Cant See Database Status?

Yesterday, I was able to successfully connect and see the status of a remote SQL instance, but I came into work today, and I am getting the white circle (meaning cant see server status). Below is the information:

1. Running XP sp3 with SSMS 2005 and MSSQL 2005.
2. The server I am trying to connect to is a virtual using VMWare.
3. Already checked WMI for permissions (though that shouldnt have changed since yesterday)
4. I am able to successfully run queries without a problem.
5. The server is registered in SSMS.
6. The SQL instance is on a Server 2k3 virtual.
7. Running SSMS on the local machine, I am able to see the status.

If you need any more information just ask. I am farily new to SSMS 2005, as Database was not my primary job (though now it is).

 

Remote access to my (local) server's folders

I am running a simple local fileserver. Windows based.

I would like to access (load, save, modify) what's on this server when I am away on business trips. Laptop -- internet -- router - server

What is the best way to do this? Setup WebDAV or ftp-server or something else? I would prefer direct access, ie. being able to load/save from an application rather than using ftp as a separate step.
