Windows 10: How do i remove a duplicate account on family safety group

We have 2 accounts setup for a child in our Family group and are not sure how this has happened. We are trying to remove the duplicate account but get a message saying:Family members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. Only the adult that granted consent for Theo can remove this family member. Ask the family organiser who granted consent to remove the account from the family group.We are both organisers. We have both tried to remove the extra account using both of our logins and get the sam

Remove myself from the Family safety

I understand that you are trying to remove yourself from the Family safety settings in Windows. We will help you.

Note: You cannot remove yourself from a family if you are the only adult and there are still child accounts still in the family.
If you want to remove yourself, you'll need to add another adult first, or remove all the child accounts first.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps you regarding the
family safety settings.

Turn off family settings in Windows.

• To turn off family settings for a child in your family, sign in at account.microsoft.com/family. Then choose one of these
  options:
  • Remove them from family settings by choosing Remove, then selecting their account, then selecting
    Remove again. They’ll still be able to sign in to their PCs, but this will remove any family limits that you set.
  • Or select them from the main family page, which will bring you to their Recent activity. If
    Activity reporting is turned On, turn it
    Off. Then repeat for the other settings pages (Web browsing, Apps, games & media, Screen time, Purchase & spending), making sure that those switches are turned
    Off.

Unable to remove child account from Family

I am the family organizer & there is just one member in the family besides me i.e. my child. I am unable to remove my child's (age: 11) account from family. It gives below error (after step 3).

You can't remove Ami from the family. Family members under statutory age need an adult's consent to join a family group. Only the adult that granted consent for Ami can remove this family member. Ask the family organizer who granted Ami consent to remove Ami from the family group.


Steps followed:

1. Log into Microsoft Family Safety
   
2. Select 3 dots on the top right of child's card & select "Remove from family group"
   
3. A dialog appears for final confirmation. Select Remove.
   

If I am the family organizer why can't I remove it?

Why does it say "Only the adult that granted consent for Ami can remove this family member"? Who else other than me granted consent? How can I find it out?

How can I remove my child's account from family?

My child cannot remove herself from the family group as well. She logged into Microsoft Family Safety but doesn't see the option to exit the group. Actually, I want her to join a different family group but it's not allowed since she is already a member of a current family group. Until she leaves her current family group she can't join a new one.

May I know if this is a newly created account?

Have you tried to use other browser and check if it will work from there?

Are you using a child or parent account?
