In a Microsoft print to pdf document, how do I remove the author information from the properties?

How do I change the default author name in Microsoft Print to PDF documents?

Ok everyone... I finally managed to manually uninstall and reinstall the Print to PDF driver. I was SO EXCITED.... until I ran my first test print to PDF.

It's STILL showing the author to be "melis"

So now I've:

* made sure I'm syncing correctly and that my Microsoft account display name is correct

* changed the name of my User folder to the correct name (It WAS "melis") by approved methods (not by just going in and changing the folder name in file explorer)

* uninstalled and reinstalled the Microsoft Print to PDF driver

and all documents I print using Print to PDF STLL show up with an author's name of "melis" instead of "Melissa MB Wilkins"

I also discovered that new Notepad documents also show the owner to be the old HP-LAPTOP\melis

Remove Word .doc Authors

I have Windows 10 Pro (x64) Version 21H2 (build 19044.1526)

I have some Microsoft Office 2000 .doc's from previous years.
One of them is a Microsoft Word 97-2003 Document.
I just removed the author from it using my test PC.
Before finding out if it works for you, create a system image backup along with a personal copy of your data you do not want to lose.

First of all, find only one of your .doc documents to work with.
Do not open it, scroll down and click on Properties.
Click on the Details tab.
Click on the Remove Properties and Personal Information link.




On the following screen, fill in the dot to Remove the following properties from this file.
Check the Authors box. Click on OK.




I closed out what I had done. When back in to view the Authors entry and Authors was now removed.




If it wasn't successful for you, try again.
You might find I might have skipped a step that I can't recall right now and you might have to investigate what is needed.

If it was successful, verify whether or not your other .doc documents or any other Word documents were globally affected in the same way.

Depending on what you find out, this is where your system image backup along with a personal copy of your data you do not want to lose might be necessary to call on.

It deals with Word 2016 & 2013 users which are not .doc's but I would see if it would work for me as an optional solution

Convert a document to PDF

You can save your Word document as a PDF file by using the following steps.

1. Choose File > Export > Create PDF/XPS.



2. If the properties of your Word document contains information that you do not want included in the PDF, in the
Publish as PDF or XPS window, choose Options. Then select
Document and clear Document properties. Set any other options you want and choose
OK.

3. In Publish as PDF or XPS, navigate to where you want to save the file. Also, modify the file name if you want a different name.
