Windows 10: How do I Remove Microsoft account email from a local account on windows 10?

Somehow my son's microsoft family safety account has become attached to another computer. I do not seem to be able to remove him from that computer. I have removed that device from his family device list more than once. I have used command prompt net user hisprofile /del to remove his profile from the computer. He can't log into that computer. I have even removed the profile that his email seemed to be attached to but that didn't remove him from the device.Apparently because I once upon a time tried to check his email from that device for him, his account is now forever locking up that co

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown

 

Change Microsoft Account Details in Administrator Account


Hi Daryl, welcome to the Ten Forums.

It's quite easy in fact, simply switch the account in question first to a local account, then switch back to a Microsoft account, this time using your wife's MS account credentials.

Notice that before doing this you need to remove the new additional MS account on the PC, the one you created with her credentials. Windows allows only one user account for each email address, if the new account exists you cannot switch the original administrator account to an MS account using the same email address. Can't remove a connected microsoft account from a local acount

Hi, I have a local account on my computer and for some reason (I don't know how) a microsoft account got linked to the local account and I can't find how to remove/unlink that account. For some reason it almost looks like the microsoft account changed the local account to a microsoft account, but when I look at the user accounts (Win+R -> netplwiz) it shows as a local account. When i go to 'Email & accounts" in Windows settings there are 3 accounts connected to the local account, 2 of them have a 'Remove' button, but the one microsoft account causing trouble doesn't, only having the option 'Manage'. It's also the only account in that screen where it says 'All apps can sign me in', but I'm not seeing an option like step 2 over here: Switch to Microsoft Account in Windows 10 Is there any possibility of unlinking or at least changing this account?
