To guide you in right direction we want to know:

-Are you using voice recorder or any other app to do so?

I would suggest you to try these methods and check if that helps:

Method 1:

Please run Recording Run Troubleshooter.

You may try to run the in-built Windows Recording Audio troubleshooter and check. Follow the steps:

• Press Windows Key + X.
• Click on Control Panel.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• On the left pane, click on View All.
• Click on Windows Recording Audio to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2:

If the issue persists, I suggest you to use the sound recorder and check if you are able to record the sound.

• In the Windows Start screen, type “sound recorder”, then select Sound Recorder from the search results.
• Try recording your voice through your microphone, then play it back. To do so, simply tap or click Start Recording, speak to the microphone, and then save the file so you can play the recording.

This will helps us to find out if the issue is with any online messenger like Skype or Windows.



I also suggest you to install the latest driver for Mic from the manufacturer’s website.

How could I record the last 10 seconds of the windows desktop?

My first thought was MS steps recorder might do what you want but you need to be on the dsktp to run it and I doubt that after setting it up and minimizing it, it would survive a reboot. 3rd party screen recorder's are in the same boat. If it was me and FF DevTools didn't help I would setup my cell phone or a regular camera on a tripod or prop on a solid surface aimed and ready to record your dsktp.

• Make sure your recording device is aimed properly.
• Restart your machine.
• Immediately, start your recorder and wait until your machine reaches the dsktp or a point as far into the dsktp where you need to go.
• Shut off recorder. and replay your recording.
• What you want should be in there somewhere.

• You might have to do some 'fiddlin' to get what you want but if you get it on the first try, congratulations!

 

Windows Camera App not showing under App Volume and Device Preferences

Hello, I have a Dell Inspiron 5502 running Windows 10 version 22H2. I have a sound issue. Under Settings>System>Sound >Advanced Sound Options>App volume and device preferences I have my system default sound input set to Virtual Cable, and I individually choose the input for other individual apps (Audacity, voice recorder etc). [[ See Picture ]] However, I want to set the input for the Windows Camera app (webcam) to "Microphone Array" (the built in laptop microphone), but the Camera App is NOT showing up in the list when I start the app. So I can't change the audio input for the webcam app unless I change the default setting for the whole system first. How do I change just the input preference for the camera app? Or how do I get the camera app to properly show up in the list of apps under: Thanks!!

- - - Updated - - - NEVER MIND, I just found it. Apparently, even thought the Windows Camera app is running, it will not show up in that list until you initiate a video recording. Then it appears. That is not the case, for example, with Windows voice recorder, which will appear in the list even though it's not recording anything. Stupid computer systems. lol. ok, it's me.
