Windows 10: How do I Remove stubborn files from the Recycle Bin

I am running Windows 10 Home v1803. I cannot delete folders from the recycle bin. I felt fortunate to delete them from my backup drive, but now they are stuck in the recycle bin. When I try to delete a folder (and underlying files), I get an error: "You need permission to perform this action You require permission from Administrators to make changes to this folder." As far as I know, I don't have an "Administrators" user. I have an Administrator but not with the "s". So how can I delete these folders and files?

The originating problem is this. I have a problem with external backup drives all the time. The problem is I cannot delete old, unwanted files that were backup up from a computer I don't have anymore. In the case above, I somehow managed to get thousands of folders and files to the Recycle Bin.

To prevent your files from being deleted from the Recycle Bin, we suggest increasing the maximum file size your Recycle Bin can keep by following the steps below:

• Right click on the Recycle Bin icon.
• Under the Settings for selected location, select Custom size.
• Fill up the box for your allotted maximum file size for your Recycle Bin.

My files are not going in Recycle Bin

This problem is fixed now.

I don't exactly know the solution but I used two Tune-up and Utility
apps,

• CCleaner
• IOBit's Advance System Care 10

Just scanned for problems and junk and applied the suggested fixes. After that the problem is gone.

 

Recycle Bin Corruption after Virus Removal

If your Recycle Bin is corrupted, you can face various problems when using it.
The Recycle Bin may not show the files that you may have been deleted from your File Explorer, or you may be unable to delete the files in the Recycle Bin – or even empty the Recycle Bin completely. At times you may even receive an Access Denied or a
Corrupt Recycle Bin error message.

Follow the below steps to start troubleshooting this:

• Press Windows key + X, in the program list select
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• At the Command Prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER:
  rd /s c:\$recycle.bin
• When prompted to confirm the deletion, type Y, and press
  Enter to confirm.
• Close the command prompt window and restart the computer.

Note: The message "The directory is not empty" may display in the command window. Ignore this message as it is related to the creation of a new directory. The files are removed.
