Windows 10: How do I remove this white border?

After installing the Windows 10 anniversary update, I have noticed that there is now a selection box or white border around some of the ShellExperienceHost applications (the time/date, wi-fi and volume.), is there anyway to get rid of it?

I have attached some screenshots which should highlight the border that I'm referring to.

How do I remove the 4 white squares?

I don´t use whatsapp, but perhaps there are temporary files in the system?



1. Just shut down the phone and take out the battery for a couple of minutes

2. Some files are left in a folder of Whatsapp. Find them...

3. Install it again and turn off the phone, restart and uninstall it again.



Or just there is just to empty the cache of the web browser...

I'm guessing you mean the 4 righter most shortcut icons of the active homescreen applications ?, Seeing as the whatsapp applications have been uninstalled/removed the shortcut icons point to nowhere, And thus turn white.



Go to "Menu/Tools/Settings/General/Personalisation/Home screen/Mode settings/Home screen applications/Application shorcuts... And change Shortcut 3,Shortcut 4,Shortcut 5 and Shortcut 6 in that list to anything you want by selecting each one in turn and choosing
a replacement app from the list that appears.

 

It looks to be part of the update. Can't confirm that until others start reporting issues.

Where/when did you get your update from?

 

Have you rebooted since updating? Please try that.

 

@Plankton, I received the update via Windows Update on 31st July, as part of a Windows Insider update.
@RWOne, Yep, I've rebooted a few times since the update.

 

As part of the insider group.....then who knows what you get (extra's) versus the actual anniversary update. There may be some stuff in there that's not in the actual update. Again, we'll have to wait to see what others start reporting once they get there update.

From what I've been reading....MS is rolling out the update. I've not gotten mine yet.

 

Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard > Enable shortcut underlines and set to Off.

This annoys me, because I like shortcut underlines, but I can't stand the ugly white rectangles. Ah well...hopefully it gets fixed in another update!

I quite enjoy the shortcut underlines too, so hopefully it does get fixed.
