    How do I repair a very sluggish PC ?


    I imagine I have got some bugs in my PC as it is ridiculously slow, Is there a trustworthy site that I can pay and turn control of my PC over to them so that they can clean it out ? I have restored the computer myself but that did not help at all. Thanks

    The first thing I'd do is block any auto-start items in the bad profile (follow step #1 under

    Fix a Sluggish, Slow PC    ). If that fails, honestly the fastest path is probably to just create another profile and drag-drop all your files into it, then delete the broken one later. But if you're not too keen on doing that, there's other options outlined

    Hi Jersey Devil. Just about any repair shop will do the job.

    That said what is slow on your device? Is it your online experience or simply things like spreadsheets?

    You can go to malwarebytes.com and download malwarebytes. Run the free version. It will give you an indication of troublesome bugs and for the most part will eliminate them.

    I always check to my Internet connect, wires go bad. Go to speedtest.net. They will suggests diagnosing your pc, I don't recommend. There will be a green button to "Begin" test. Run it. Are you getting what you are paying for, or close?

    Next I would check your task manager and see what is running hot. CRTL+Alt+Del, click task manager. If details aren't showing click Details lower left corner.

    You could also be suffering from a failing drive. I would go command prompt(admin) and run

    chkdsk

    no options just to get a report on disk health.

    Be aware that right after a major update there is an indexing process that can occur which will really knock performance.
