Mistakenly entered wrong alternative email when setting up my PC. Had purchased windows with my main email. Windows is operational but now I have two admin accounts on one PC and wish to replace the original family organizer account. Can't seem to figure out a method to do so. All recommendations I've seen thus far do not match the options I have.

    :)

Are there Family Member, Adult? And other related questions about accepting Members in Microsoft Account.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Account.

I understand that you wanted to add your Mother as an Adult to the Family Safety Group. We need to investigate this to find the best possible solution to this issue. Let's work on this together.

To better understand the situation, we would like to ask some questions, such as:

    • Are you listed as the Family Organizer of this Family Group?
    • Kindly send us a screenshot or screen recording of the whole process to properly replicate the situation
Based on your description, you are being logged out automatically on your own Microsoft account since you initiated in logging in your Mothers Microsoft account, which is normal since you can only use one Microsoft account per browser.

If you are the organizer of this Family Group, you can list your Mothers account as Child temporarily then change the account type to Adult manually after. You can follow the steps below to change it manually:

To change a child account to an adult account in your family group, you’ll need to follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to your account at family.microsoft.com.
    2. Find the child account that you want to change.
    3. Click on “Manage”.
    4. Click on “Change settings”.
    5. Under “Account type”, select “Adult”.
    6. Click on “Save”.
If you’re not the organizer of the family group, you’ll need to ask the organizer to make the change for you.

    Sincerely,

    Leonardo_Y

  3. Delete family group:

    Dear Jason Mock1

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

In all honesty, we would suggest that the fastest solution for you would be to re-register for a Microsoft account and then join your daughter's family group. That way you can get up and running with MICROSOFT365 as soon as possible.

Back to the family group issue, if you are the organizer of another family group, it would be a good idea to notify the other members of the group that the group needs to be disbanded, and then delete the other members in turn from the main family account screen. Finally, dissolve the family group.

If you are a member of a family, but not the organizer, you can leave the family group if you are an adult account, or if you are a minor, you will need to be removed from the family group by your organizer.

So, frankly speaking the family group feature is not perfect at the moment and sometimes the above steps may not be possible due to server logic. You may want to sign up for a new Microsoft account and wait until the family group feature is stabilized before joining your daughter's family group with your original account.

We hope the above information helps you

    Best Wish

    Family Organizer Leaving Family Group

    Hello Lee Wilfert,

Glad to see you in Microsoft Community.

    • If Mother was the administrator of the Family Group, you can exit the Family Group directly, and Mother will automatically become the Family Group organizer.

If you want to stay in the Family Group, you need to rejoin, either as an administrator or as a regular Family Group member.

Visit Getting started with Microsoft Family Safety for more details.
    • If Mother was already a member of the Family Group, you need to remove her from the Family Group, then add it again, and need to select "Administrator" when selecting the role.
Meanwhile, you can dissolve the Family Group, and then let the new organizer send an invitation to re-establish the Family Group. Visit Leave family group or remove members (microsoft.com) for more details.

If anything is unclear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,
