Windows 10: How do i reset ethernet ip?

so i made a mistake of messing around with the control panels ip setting for my network. I was trying to lead internet through my laptop to my desktop. it worked, but now that ive plugged in a normal ethernet cable from my router to my desktop it now says unidentified network.if tried all the ipconfig and net ish things and none work. the ipconfig / renew does not work.it just gives an error saying that it cannot connect to the dhcp or somethings network. help. i dont know what to do.

Unidentified Network/valid IP configuration: both Ethernet and WiFi


I have this problem everywhere, not just at home. Though at home I have access to connect directly or with the Ethernet, which doesn't seem to change the issue at all. Specifically, we've tried assigning IP addresses manually already.

If I didn't understand your suggestion though, just let me know what steps I need to do.

Step 2: If the issue persists, you may try the following steps and check if it helps.

Reset TCP/IP and check if it helps.

a. Press Windows key + X, Select Command Prompt (Admin)
and then press ENTER.

b. At the command prompt, type the following command and then press ENTER:

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note: If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

c. Reboot the computer.



Step 3: You may also follow these steps and check if it helps.

a. Press Windows key + X, Select Command Prompt (Admin)
and then press ENTER.

b. At the command prompt, type the following command and then press ENTER:

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

c. Close the command prompt.
