    How do I resolve the "Install Error 0x80070103" message?


    I am experiencing the same issue with the Install Error 0x80070103. I will attach the images of the updates I am unable to install. Did attempt the net stop wuauserve and cryptSvc and net stop bits command then ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistributionSoftwareDistribution.old and ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2Catroot2.old then net start wuauserv and net start cryptSvc and net start bits then netsh winsock reset and reboot PC. It didn't work

    Install error - 0x80070103

    Windows Update keeps listing an available update, but when I run Update, I get an error: Intel - Net - 12.18.9.20 Install error - 0x80070103

    I run the Windows Update troubleshooter (the one in Windows, not the download mentioned in so many articles with the broken link), and it finds a problem, and says it fixed it, but the problem persists. I attached an image of the issues below.

    I have tried

    • uninstalling the Intel adapters in Device Manager
    • the process of renaming catroot2 and SoftwareDistribution as in this post
    • ran system file checker, it found and fixed corrupted files
    Nothing has worked.

    Well, it did not for me and it did not for others, but the method below worked for everyone that I know who tried it...

    Hi,

    When the update is offered, you can hide this update using the following troubleshooter tool:

    Download Windows Updates Troubleshooter Tool from Microsoft

    https://download.microsoft.com/down...9CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab

    Click on "Hide updates" option and you'll be able to hide the desired update given in the list.

    The Pause and Un-pause updates

    Boom!
