Windows 10: How do I restore my Chrome search history and bookmarks?

After windows updated, Chrome also updated, and it deleted all my extensions, bookmarks, and search history. I was logged into my google account at the time, but it wasn't syncing information.I already tried to login with my Google account, but it didn't work. Thank you for your time!

I deleted a folder from Chrome bookmarks. How can I restore it?

Another long shot but you can try to System Restore to a point before the folder was deleted: How to Use Windows 11 System Restore Point (4 Ways)

If not then Chrome let's you sign in to sync Favorites. You may be able to restore Chrome bookmarks from it's sync history or another way given here: https://windowsreport.com/chrome-bookmarks-disa...

(Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro, PC Repair Tool and Reimage ads)

Where did my Chrome bookmarks go?

Hello KatrinaPappas, my name is Irisdiel and I am an independent advisor.

I suggest you follow the instructions down below.

-Search for "Bookmarks.bak" in Windows Explorer

-Right-click the file and choose "Open file location" to open the folder, which should be your Chrome user data folder (i.e., Users/[Username]/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User Data/Default)

-Open the bookmarks backup file in Notepad. Your old bookmarks, hopefully, are listed there

-In Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced sync settings (under the Sign in section) and change the sync settings so that Bookmarks aren't synced, if they currently are set to sync

-Close Chrome

-Back in the Chrome user data folder, find another "Bookmarks" file without an extension. Rename it "Bookmarks2.bak"

-Then rename the "Bookmarks.bak" file to "Bookmarks"

Chrome - Clear Browsing History

It is not necessarily a Chrome issue, e.g. could be a HDD/SSD problem where the Browsing History is located/stored. An essential first step is to re-install Chrome. In addition to that would be checks on your HDD/SSD. That will restart your Browsing history. Before you re-install make a copy of your Bookmarks. 3 dots > Bookmarks > Bookmark manager > 3 dots > Export bookmarks. You can import that HTML file again to Chrome or indeed any other Web Browser.
