Windows 10: HOW DO I RETREIVE WINDOWS 10 FILES WRITTEN TODAY 2/16/2023 SUBJECT GEORGE WASHINGTON 1776

Files were lost after this morning's Microsoft update. Microsoft 365 Word file was lost after Microsft finished. Would you please help me restore the file I cannot find where the file is located? It was the only one I was working on this am. Tom

Locking the file explorer

"It can change the order in which they are displayed but that's all." Yes I know and that's the exact issue. The macro is not the problem. The problem is using it in the unstable and unpredictable file explorer. As you probably know the file explorer default is to automatically place all files in alphabetical order. When changing and remaking a file, you press Enter and the file explorer rearranges the new order again. If line one of the explorer contains a the title George and you add the name Washington before George. The file explorer will rearrange the files alphabetically again. The file Washington George moves to a line or near a line at the end of the displayed lists. If the file is changed to George Washington the file ends being moved to somewhere else in the lists. Additionally making a change to the title on line 1, line 1 must be high lighted to perform the change. Subsequently the highlighting is moved to the new line containing the changed file name. With the automatic alphabetical sorting prevents using sequential adding of changes.
In effect the macros first renaming of George to Washington George. The second renaming in the macro sequential changing cannot move to highlight line 2. Instead the new line that contains Washington George becomes Washington Washington George.
The solution would have to be too stop the automatic re-alphabetical action while the macro is in use, then turn it back on after the macro is finished and at the3 users description. For the macro to work as intended the file on line 1 needs to remaking on line 1 after the macro renaming.
The question I am asking is how can the alphabetically reorganizing be stop? Tnx

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
