Windows 10: How do I run dvd on windows 10?

I was going to rewatch pokémon today, so I got my dvd and dvd player, plugged it into my computer and didn't find any built in application to run it, it wasn't a big deal, I simply downloaded a program, but now I wonder, how was I supposed to do it?
