    How do I scan a multi-page document as one PDF file using the Windows scan app?


    I would like to scan a multi-page document as one PDF file. How do I do this using the Windows scan app? Currently, each page saves as a separate scanned PDF. I am not sure how to scan it to create a multi-page document. I have Windows 11, version 22H2.

    In Microsoft Scan I can't find + icon for scanning additional pages

    Hi Ted,

    I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    The Microsoft Scan app is a basic scanning app, do you have an automatic document feeder on your scanner, if not that may be why the + button is not showing on that app.

    There are many free apps that can be used for scanning multi-page documents to a PDF file, there is a free app available online named NAPS2 that should allow you to scan a multi-page document to a PDF file.

    Reading multi-page scanned tiff and/or jpeg files

    You should scan a multi-page document as a PDF, which can have any number of pages. Image formats like .tiff and .jpeg are one image per file.

    There's a free app in the Store called Microsoft Scan that can scan to PDF and do multi-page documents if your scanner has a document feeder.
