Windows 10: How do I search in Windows Explorer for a specific word contained in files that are not...

Searching in Windows Explorer for files containing specific words or phrases seems to work only for Microsoft files. I need to search SPSS syntax files for where I've used a specific command. These files are simple text files yet a search for a common word such as "Save" yields no results. Is there a way to search for text within other types of files?

Searching a document in containing a specific word from file explorer

I have to find a document(.docx format) containing a specific word by using the search options from the file explorer.
eg: I wish to find a word containing the word "thank you" within my documents from file explorer. I have lots of document in that format on my PC. Anyone, please help me out.

Searching for specific group of words in html file in Windows Explorer

Hi, worked for me (in 1903- I reverted from 1909 given the file explorer search issues) - after I added the folder containing html files to the folders being indexed as they weren't currently being indexed.

You might try watching the number of items indexed in Indexing Options, deselecting the folder of interest, see the number of items indexed decrease, then the converse.

I think these show the conditions necessary, preceded by an example of successful content search (note the "" around the search string on the left, html document on the right)

Thanks Lance. Most of that I know already. I was asking for syntax to specifically find folders containing a certain file type i.e. photos.

For instance a search string that would in effect request: "List all folders on drive D containing photos" or "List all folders on drive D containing videos" and have just the folders containing those files, not the files themselves, listed in the results.
