Windows 10: How do I set an HDMI output as audio only?

The issue:When I connect my Sony AV Reciever DA2400ES using the BD port to my PC via an HDMI cord, I get a display that I don't have a monitor for called SONY AVAMP. Windows will open some applications to this display, even though I have one of my other displays set as default. Idealy, I'd be running a 5.1 surround system with just one HDMI cable going to the reciever, and an audio output option that doesn't produce a display I am unable to see.I have two devices:1 Microsoft Surface 7When I connect a USB-C to HDMI adapter to the reciever, I only get an audio output labeled SONY AVAMP IntelR

It seems that the issue is due to incorrect audio settings. For help fixing audio or sound problems, try the audio troubleshooter.
It might be able to fix audio problems automatically.

Additionally, we suggest that check your audio settings. Make sure that your HDMI TV is set as your default sound device. Here are the steps:

• Click Start and in the Search box, type
  Sound.
• From the search results, click the Sound option.
• Under the Playback tab, click Speakers
• Click Set Default at the bottom.
• Click Apply and OK to save the settings.

HDMI audio output to Sony TV

PC to TV through HDMI

Hi,

Have you tried to reconfigure your audio settings? If not, try to change your audio output settings to HDMI by following the steps below:

• Press Windows ( ) key + X.
• Select Control Panel.
• Click Hardware & Sound.
• Click Manage Audio Devices.
• Select the HDMI device listed under the Playback tab.
• Click Set as default and click Ok.

Also, we suggest to update your audio driver.
