    How do I set the TIME of Optimize Drives schedule


    I am setting my Optimization (defrag) schedule to "Run on a schedule (recommended)", Frequency: Weekly and I checked "Notify me if three consecutive schedule runs are missed".

    Questions:

    1. How to do I set the time of the optimization run? I don't want it to run while I'm working, and I also don't want to shut down my laptop before it the run time.

    2. How does the system notify me when schedule runs are missed?

    Disk optimization scheduling in Windows 10

    I'm actually curious about how Windows determines when a drive can be optimized. Just as an experiment, I set the optimization frequency to daily and let the computer sit. I leave this machine on 24x7, so it should have ample time to run the optimization
    algorithm.

    A week later, I see that the last run of the optimization was 8 days ago.

    Also, is it only possible to schedule optimization for mechanical drives? I'm noticing that the SSDs don't automatically TRIM at the same schedule as mechanical drives defragment.

    Volume defrag

    You can actually remove it from the list of the drives you want to optimize on a regular schedule. To do so, kindly follow these steps:

    • Search for Defragment and Optimize drive.
    • Under Optimize Drives, click the Change settings button.
    • Under Optimization schedule, click the Choose beside Drives.
    • Uncheck the \\?\Volume drive to remove it from the list.

    We would appreciate an update about how it went.
