Windows 10: How do I set up so that my laptop will need to require me to sign in after sleep

I turned on the “When PC wakes up from sleep” but it doesn’t work

• Control Panel/Power options/Require a password when the computer wakes/Change settings that are currently unavailable/Require a password/Save changes
• Settings/Accounts/Sign-in option/ Require sign in/When PC wakes up from sleep

I've tried these many times with a restart after set up but still doesn't work.

Is there a solution?

Require sign-in when waking Windows 10 laptop from sleep.

I am having trouble getting my Widows 10 laptop to require a sign-in when I open the lid. It is set to go to sleep when I close the lid. And it is also set to require a sign-in when it wakes up.

On another settings page it is set to "Never" go to sleep when plugged in, but I assume that is after a period of inactivity. The same setting on another Windows 10 laptop still allows sleep when the lid is closed--and requires a password when it is opened.

But on my Dell, I close the lid and return an hour later, touch the keypad, and my desktop appears, already logged in. Is it possible that it is not actually in sleep mode when I assume that it is?

Any ideas?
