How do I set Windows 11 firewall to alert me when any program attempts a connection to or from the internet to my PC. I want alerts just like the max security of the older zone alarm.

  2. Windows Firewall doesn't alert on inbound connection

    Hi all,

many years I use 3rd part firewall software but now I am back to Windows Firewall.

When there is an inbound connection (a server that receive a connection from outside) Windows Firewall should notify and altert the user to accept (and make the rule) or decline the inbound connection.

That is the behaviour that I know Windows Firewall should have and I remember in the Win XP times that it was so.

Today I ran FILEZILLA FTP SERVER and I set it.

I ran a client in my LAN to connect to the server... NO ALERT... CAN'T CONNECT.

I ran another client (to be sure)... NO ALERT... CAN'T CONNECT.

So I make myself the rule for the service and... IT'S CONNECTED!!!

So firewall why didn't alert when it receive a connection???

    Thank you...

    Windows Firewall Alerts Problem

I've been noticing this, and it only started in the past few days. Perhaps some update from Microsoft.

And in my case, I'm only using Defender, so it's particularly odd.

So I did a quick search in Windows Settings, and found the following.

    • Open Control Panel
    • Open Windows Firewall and click "Allow an app or feature..." in the sidebar
    • Click "Change Settings" (requires admin privileges)
    • If Google Chrome (and any other programs where this is happening) is on the list, check it.
    • If a program isn't listed, click "Allow another app..." at the bottom, and navigate to the respective .exe file.
Unfortunately, even after doing that, and rebooting, the alert is still coming up for me. So, something else seems to be at play here.

    Best free AV and firewall

Can Windows Firewall block outgoing connections yet? If not, it's one step above useless.

Look into Online Armor for a free firewall.
