Windows 10: How do I shrink the large ribbon in Paint and collapse it?

Please do not give the C/C++ answer because we need an answer for non-programmmers. Prior to Windows 11, this was a simplier and very user friendly task to do. Now, we feel stuck and helpless.

Microsoft Paint - Shrink the Giant Ribbon

I'm using Windows 11 and MS Paint 11.2208.6.0 Copyright 2022 according to "About", The "ribbon" is 160 pixels high, taking a significant amount of real-estate and limiting what I can select in one go. I've tried ^F1, and right-clicking in the toolbar. Nothing happens. Is there some way to shrink or get rid of the thing? (It is useful that it's possible to select part of the image you can't see, but still more could be selected if the tool bar would go away. And I suppose you can stitch two pieces together, but making the R go away would make more sense.)

Below is a part of what I called "the ribbon". It's absurdly huge. And...I see some products listed (in the DD below), but not Office, or O360, so perhaps this is the wrong place to post, but I've written this and am done futzing around.)

 

Large Program ribbons

After watching a training video from CreativeLive (no virus) in Windows Media Player, and having Photoshop running, I closed down graciously.

Subsequently, all Ribbons and fonts are HUGE. This includes the fonts beneath my desktop icons and tabs on Windows Internet explorer.

In Outlook, for example, the list of individual e-mail items is normal, but the Ribbon and Folder List is very large: ie, the font is very large.

I my Open window in any program, the font of items to be opened is also very large.

When I go to the display settings, the slider bar is greyed out and unavailable.

Where and how can I fix this?
