Windows 10: how do i sign-in into my pc with the authenticator app

i had this before but now it doesn't do it but now it makes me to sign in through the pc but when this thing was working it opens a small window , to send a notification to my authenticator app, then i select the number that is shown on the screen small window tab on to the app on my phone.so how would i get this back?i prefer this way to sign in, so i know when some one is trying to sign in, when am not home.please help me to fix this

Microsoft Authenticator App - Unable to sign in.

I am using an iPhone. I had to do a hard reset at some point. After reinstalling the Microsoft Authenticator App, I am unable to sign into the app. I try to sign in, then my 2-step verification kicks in telling me a code has been sent to the authenticator app, which is what I am trying to sign back into. The other options like text and my other email seems to be not working. This is for my personal account. I have tried to remove the authenticator from my two step verification on my PC when signed into my account, but it will not remove. Does anyone know how to get the app to start working again?
